About the programme

EIASM’s DBA degree program, developed for managers, executives, advisors, and educators, strengthens the capabilities of its applicants, helping them to make major management and leadership contributions to their companies and to make them more competitive. Unlike a PhD, EIASM’s DBA program is designed for business leaders to build the skills to design and produce research that has an impact, improve the ability to solve complex business issues, and shape an in-depth study on a particular subject and develop a detailed research project. The Doctor of Business Administration degree equips applicants within their discipline to become critical decision makers and gain the prestigious Dr title.

Course of Study

A candidate for the degree of DBA must have pursued at the EIASM an online or part-time course of study comprising a taught component and a dissertation thesis. Completion of the DBA program commonly takes three years of study. This period can be extended up to 5 years in total. DBA program can be finished earlier if the student manages to complete all requirements (complete the courses and write the dissertation). It includes frequent contact with the supervisor.

Taught component

The taught component requires the completion of 180 credits, completed during the whole course. We require the satisfactory completion of the following courses as part of a training program in research methods and skills.
Candidates who fail to satisfy the Examiners in any of the above courses or deliver courses or required documentation may be re-examined on such terms as the Senate, on the recommendation of the EIASM may decide.

The Capstone project

Candidates are required to submit a capstone project on an approved topic. The thesis should offer an original application of knowledge in the area of management and should demonstrate the candidate’s ability to integrate rigorous academic analysis with practical real-world relevance and application.

The subject chosen should be viewed in light of future career plans. Students have been offered positions as a direct result of their DBA Capstone project. The Capstone Project can take many forms, including a research based thesis (a dissertation ranging between min. 20,000 to 40,000 words), business plan, case study or report (or indeed a combination of elements of these).

A very popular option amongst students is to work with an organisation on a project that will add value to its business. The output is a substantial report combining the student’s experience and DBA knowledge to provide research, analysis and recommendations. The Student Projects Manager works with students to facilitate engagement.

DBA Career Opportunities

A DBA degree is equivalent to reputable technical business knowledge, qualifications and technical expertise-how. And so it brings a host of career opportunities. As a DBA degree holder you will be ept for every top management and executive position in research organisations, companies, banks etc. In your field of specialization, you can also become a business professor and combine teaching with research. You may progress into a broader position within your current company or pursue jobs in another company that provides greater opportunities for advancement. There are plenty more than these work names, including, operations manager, chief financial officer, senior management consultant, director of human resource management etc.
